as well as assist with school maintenance and fund-raising.
16 children, 1 teacher, 4 parents
This class focuses on the developmental and academic
needs of the children who will be ready for Kindergarten after their
preschool experience. The children are introduced to concepts such
as "show
and tell", extempore word associative story telling, beginning math
and printing skills, indoor play based theme centers and small group
work.
As in all of our classes, parents are always welcome to come to all or any part
of the child's class, but are required to attend on their scheduled work day.
The children have the opportunity to play indoors and outdoors. In addition to
free play, in each session there is a snack and group circle times. The children
will often do cooking projects or help in the preparation of their snack
In this class, children are encouraged to participate in art, science, music, cooking, dramatic play, gross motor and fine motor activities. Their fledgling interest in letter printing and math are encouraged with cooperative games and small group time.
The school also has an Intercultural Program. We select and highlight the cultures
of the families in our school. We learn about far away places through the art,
music, and cooking and stories.
Toward the end of the session, children are encouraged to play under the supervision
of several parents as the remaining parents participate in an informal discussion
with the teacher. This portion of the program provides support and education
of parents.
