Parents participate in approximately 1 class session per week,
as well as assist with school maintenance and fund-raising.
24 children, 1 teacher, 7 parents
This class introduces the children to activities
such as “planning and recall” at circle and snack time, checking
out books from our school library
and an opportunity to dictate a story which is written down by the
teacher or a parent.
As in all of our classes, parents are always welcome to come to all
or any part of the child's class, but are required to attend on their scheduled
work day.
The children have the opportunity to play indoors and outdoors. In
addition to free play, in each session there is a snack and group circle
times.
In this class children are encouraged to participate in science, cooking
projects and field trips.
The school also has an Intercultural Program. Our teachers choose
several countries each year to incorporate into our program. This can be
done through visitors, music and through special art and cookery projects.
Toward the end of the session, children are encouraged to play under
the supervision of several parents as the remaining parents participate
in an informal discussion with the teacher. This portion of the program
provides support and education of parents.
