Parents participate in approximately 3 class sessions per month,
as well as assist with school maintenance and fund-raising.
24 children, 1 teacher, 7 parents
This class is very often the first preschool experience for both the children
and the parents. The teacher and the parents work together to make this
a smooth and enjoyable first experience. As in all of our classes, parents
are always welcome to come to all or any part of the child's class, but
are required to attend on their scheduled work day.
The children have the opportunity to play indoors and outdoors. In
addition to free play, in each session there is a snack and group circle
times. The children will often do cooking projects or help in the preparation
of their snack
In this class children are encouraged to participate in science,
and field trips.
The school also has an Intercultural Program. Our teachers choose
several countries each year to incorporate into our program. This can be
done through visitors, music and through special art and cooking projects.
Toward the end of the session, children are encouraged to play under
the supervision of several parents as the remaining parents participate
in a half hour informal discussion with the teacher about the events
of the day. This portion of the program provides support and eduction
of parents.
